wages for our dogs

September 1st 2007 09:50
Should working class dogs get paid a regular wage? An interesting point in a dogs life would be the return home of its owner. They wait till that certain part of their day when they instinctively know you are close to home and they become very excited to have you home. Their reward each day, is that play time with you and that run and walk with you as well, and then the end of the day meal and a final drinik of water...then a play around inside with you...then bed time.
So their rewards are very few and amazing...and they seldom complain: but what about those dogs that work for a living? you know the ones I mean.....smile....those dogs such as police dogs, and those with the federal police and search and rescue uinits, and those by the blind dogs association, and so on.

For have you ever known any dog that works for a living in any industry, any where in your country, that has ever been paid a wage, or a salary? I personally have never heard of any dog ever having been paid any sort of a wage. And can you imagine a time when a dog could ever be paid a wage for the job. What kind of a wage does its owner come handler get paid, as to the work he does, as compared to the work their dog does. I think it is quite funny to be able a witness to a dog walking up to the pay office and get paid in cash, or cheque, or by bank transfer, and so on. I wonder if there is a working class dog's union, and tax file number and health benefits and so on...for them? Anyway, I know it is a joke of a question, that is why I have asked it...smile.

Cheerio for now, in faith The Old Man.

Dogs either entertain their owner or work for their owner, at the end of the day they're closer to tools than human employees.

They need to be maintained, used for their purpouse (without over stressing them) and thats it.

Agreed. I don't really think a dog needs to be paid. Just looked after and given a decent life.

Hi compelledchristian - me too
Right now I'm minding a longtime friend's three dogs and what you say about their rewards and hanging out till the master returns is spot on. But why question whether they should be paid any money? Wouldn't that ensnare them in the money trap that mankind is in? Thanks George Bernard Shaw/Pygmalion and My Fair Lady for "why can't a woman be more like a man". But when it comes to love of money, why can't a man be more like a dog!
